Perhaps the edgiest of Goddess-rock singer Emma G's music to date: SAVE YOU FROM YOURSELF is a tough-love proclamation of empowering you to take control of your life and to save yourself.
"I'm the first to preach about togetherness and community," Emma G explains. "But at the end of the day, no matter who you associate or hang out with, or what your peers encourage you to do; it is up to YOU to decide how you're going to live your life - how you choose to respond to events around us - and how you choose to feed your soul".
Yes, SAVE YOU FROM YOURSELF is a seriously unapologetic take on the power of our own decision making. With lyrics like "Struck down with grandiose hypotheses / Save the world with ego and authority / Fight a storm built by your making / And blame it all on pain that you’re creating", Emma G is taking no prisoners when it comes to encouraging the world to be their best versions of themselves at all times – and show up for themselves when they need themselves the most.
Emma G laughs. "Yeah... I'm not always the most subtle person - especially when it comes to taking ownership of ourselves. Don't get me wrong; I know I'm as guilty as anyone else! But the fact of the matter is: our minds are powerful. What we put out into the world; we get back from the world. We can either choose to focus on our storms and inner pain, or we can learn and grow from it – almost become friends with it. Focus on the bullsh*t; or we can use that bullsh*t as fertilizer and plant a beautiful garden. It’s up to us.
Produced by Flightboy Music, SAVE YOU FROM YOURSELF was released on BandCamp on May 10th, and will be available on streaming platforms everywhere come May 22nd, as well as on her website www.EmmaGmusic.com
lyrics
You, you are your only
You are your everything,
Pity that you can’t be
What you need
Live a life of loneliness in exile
An overdone catalogue of fake smiles
Stairway to hell, elevate the mistakes
The lunatic injects themself with heartache.
Suffocating on your own stupidity
Locked away with promises of misery
Kick in the head, rub the salt deeper
Lie awake and feel you getting weaker.
Ah, I hate to state the obvious
Hate to state the obvious
Hate to state the obvious
I can’t save you from yourself
Ah, I hate to state the obvious
Hate to state the obvious
Hate to state the obvious
I can’t save you from yourself
Struck down with grandiose hypotheses
Save the world with ego and authority
Fight a storm built by your making
And blame it all on pain that you’re creating
Broken heart, the guilt eating you slowly
Take a breath, the hurt infects the lonely
Slap in the face, twist the knife deeper
Hold it there, and feel you getting weaker
Ah, I hate to state the obvious
Hate to state the obvious
Hate to state the obvious
I can’t save you from yourself
Ah, I hate to state the obvious
Hate to state the obvious
Hate to state the obvious
I can’t save you from yourself
You, you are your only
You are your everything,
Pity that you can’t be
What you need
Ah, I hate to state the obvious
Hate to state the obvious
Hate to state the obvious
I can’t save you from yourself
Ah, I hate to state the obvious
Hate to state the obvious
Hate to state the obvious
I can’t save you from yourself
